Yarnomat is an online yarn shop specialising in sock yarns for Australian knitters and crocheters. Instead of offering a broad range of yarns for all purposes, we focus on sock yarn so that we can offer a deep range of innovative, interesting, high-quality and inspiring products for people who love to work with fine yarn.
What's so special about sock yarn? The softness, strength, durability and colours of specialised sock yarns are outstanding. You can't get a better-fitting, more comfortable pair of socks than the pair you knit for yourself.

Background. The shop opened in April 2008 from Lisa Reeve's home in Williamstown, Australia. Lisa's partner, Mike, and their 8-year-old daughter, Eris, help Lisa with day-to-day operations, especially packing and shipping. Lisa has been a knitter for thirty years, and a passionate sock knitter since discovering the many possibilities of hand-knitted socks in 2006. As part of establishing Yarnomat, she is also venturing into pattern design. Lisa's free patterns are available from the Free Patterns section of this site, and more will be added over time.
